Since the launch of Iron Lily in March of 2016, the support and feedback has been overwhelming. We are growing and shifting as each new day arises. We are so excited to announce the launch of our blog today. Iron Lily simply put is a clothing brand, yes, but it encompasses so much more than that. It's about the things we do everyday to live a more positive, healthy, and enlightened lifestyle. It's the small things that can bring the most joy to our lives and we want to be here to capture the action.
This blog will talk about all the things that IS life! Everything from workouts to food recipes to vintage watches to beautiful sunsets. To kick off the blog, we have partnered with health and lifestyle blogger Rachel Hengesh @healthyfood, where she takes us through her favorite pancake recipe. She shows you how to get your protein and veggies in one mouth watering flapjack. The ingredient list and prep time is minimal, with whole ingredients and is fully PALEO driven. All of our favorite things! You can follow the recipe via video instructions or the old school written way. You choose. If this recipe hits your top 10 list and you are looking for more, head over to Rachel's blog www.holistic100.com to read her story on how she was able to control her anorexia and bullimia through creating healthy food recipes.
Enjoy!
For meals, I try to eat a carb, a protein, a fat, and a vegetable, but since protein pancakes and peanut butter (self-proclaimed addict) is my favorite for breakfast, I don’t always want to eat veggies on the side...
SO, one day when I was making protein pancakes, I thought, “What if I just blend spinach into the egg whites?” and WALLAH, it WORKED and exceeded all expectations.
Here’s the thing - they are green!
The banana makes them sweet and the egg whites provide protein and topped with nut butter, they are going to become a regular in your diet.
It’s a very customizable recipe, you can add oats, protein powder (#gainz), stevia, vanilla extract, nuts, dark chocolate chips, blueberries, spices–anything really.
1 banana
3 egg whites
2 cups of spinach
Dash of baking powder
1 Tablespoon coconut flour
3 egg whites or 1/2 of liquid egg whites
2 cups of spinach
-Blend-
1 banana
1 teaspoon cinnamon
A dash of baking powder
1 tablespoon coconut flour (or oat flour)
-Blend-
If batter seems too thin, add more coconut flour and if too thick, add more egg whites or water.
Cook on a pre-heated pan over low heat and use a little coconut oil if needed.
Flip when golden brown and top with nut-butter and all the goodies of your choosing.
I love using chia seeds, hemp hearts, cacao nibs and lots of peanut butter to get some superfood power power-packed pancakes.
Eat Clean. Eat Green.
XO Rachel
